How to choose the right laser protective eyewear?
Choosing the right goggles for a particular application requires consideration of the operating wavelength, power, beam diameter, beam delivery system and operating environment. You can refer to the laser's parameters or manual, or a certified Laser Safety Officer (LSO - Laser Safety Officers) will determine what laser safety eyewear you should use. For more information, please contact us and we will provide you with the best solution.
1. VLT Transmittance
In visible light, the attenuation of light by a filter is defined as the visible light transmission rate. The National Organization for Standardization standard Z136.7 on personal protection states that the VLT test is related to the standard light source, pay attention to the light conditions of the use of glasses, when the VLT is less than 20% is still in a darker field of vision, need to make sure that their work environment has additional lighting. the higher the VLT, the better the clarity.
2. Select the appropriate wavelength
The American national standardization organization ANSI Z136.1 requires laser protective glasses to be marked with wavelength and OD value, the general manufacturer will mark the most common wavelength range and OD value on the glasses, a small portion of the users use the wavelengths that are not listed on the glasses, details of the best to consult the manufacturer in order to provide the most suitable glasses.
3. Choose a high protection O.D. value
Laser filters are designed to reduce the amount of specific wavelengths entering the eye while allowing some normal light to pass through the eye to function properly. The ability of the lens to absorb or filter this light can be expressed in terms of optical density, which is the attenuation of light passing through the optical filter. the higher the OD value, the greater the attenuation, with each unit indicating a 10-fold increase in the level of protection.
