What types of laser protective eyewear are available? What is the difference?
There are two basic types of laser protective filter technology: reflective and absorptive. In laser protective eyewear, the reflective type consists mainly of coated sheets. Absorbent types are mainly glass and polycarbonate.
1. Coated lenses are made by applying a thin film coating that allows specific wavelengths to bounce off in different directions and reflect back in a broad scattering pattern. These glasses are usually less expensive and can directly damage our eyes if the coating comes off or is damaged. It is not recommended to use this type.
2. Glass absorbing filters have a high visible light transmittance, which greatly restores the original color of the product. At the same time, it can absorb higher heat density, thermal stability is better, so it can provide a higher level of protection. As the thickness increases, so does the protection level. The disadvantage is that it is heavy and may not be comfortable to wear for a long time; the price is relatively high.
3. Polycarbonate absorptive filters are currently the most widely used and cost-effective type, the process is mainly to select the absorptive laser dye, which is lighter and more suitable for long-term wear compared to glass, and has impact resistance. With the continuous iterative updating of the technology of Radium Screen Technology, it is able to provide highly protective eyewear with multiple wavelengths covered at the same time, and the overall visual effect is excellent!
